About Us...

We are sisters from Alabama, raised in the finest traditions of outdoor entertainment: barbecue and tailgating! While we cheer for different teams, the one thing we have in common is a love for good, fresh ingredients, cooked well over an open fire.

Alison is the artistic director of a ballet company, and holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Arizona, and an MA in Arts Education from NYU. She teaches dance at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Her specialty is nutrition for dancers and actors, and she is certified to teach Pilates. Besides her recipe-writing contributions, Alison will be contributing regularly to the Lighten Up! sections of the blog - look for her quick tips to add healthy living to your busy lifestyle. Kate is an Auburn graduate with a BS in Biomedical Sciences. While she now makes a living as a pharmaceutical sales rep, she put herself through school managing some of the best barbecue restaurants in the southeast, and was also a caterer specializing in tailgating parties. Kate is our grillmaster, and has the handle on the science behind the technique. She will also be contributing regularly to the HOT, HOT, HOT! section with ways to add more than fire to the equation. If you have questions, you can contact us at questions@girlsonagrill.com. If we like your question, we might use it on a future blog. Our MOM sorts our email, so please keep it clean!

At the Helm of the Tall Ship, Joshua

Katie and Alison took some time off and got out from behind the grill long enough to take a spin around Mobile Bay at the helm of the City of Mobile's official tall ship, the Joshua. For more info about the Joshua, or sailing on Mobile Bay, go to www.schoonerjoshua.com.
